Really good event organised by East Sussex Advanced Motorcyclists ESAM @ JW Groombridge Motorcycles today.
Lots of taster rides resulting in some new IAM RoadSmart members.
Well done ESAM – East Sussex Advanced Motorcyclists
Thanks also to JW Groombridge’s for hosting the event.

We are at JW Groombridges at Cross in Hand. We’ve been road testing the Royal Enfield range. So, I took out the Himalayan Scram which was very good fun and the Himalayan both 411cc both performed well. Then I took a 350 Meteor out for a spin. Footrests were very forward and for just field wrong but the bike as a whole very good. Finally, the 350 Classic! I loved it from just getting on it. Smooth, speedy, super responsive, brakes were very good, acceleration was good and got to 60 mph very quickly. Very comfortable and just felt right. I wanted to really love Himalayan having heard so much about them. As for the Meteor and Scram they were just very new so no expectations, but I liked the Scram better. I wouldn’t buy the Meteor due to riding position. As for the Himalayan, Classic 350, Scram yes I would.
Associate circular ride out to Hickstead Racecourse and back to Boship
Sunday 23rd August 2020
Ride Leader John Pedder, tail end Paul Adams
Associates Only, or any New Members not familiar with group riding/drop off system
Teaching New Associates, the art of the drop-off system in a safe and convenient place with appropriate hand signals, plus critiquing their individual rides, which will assist them in their goal to passing their Advanced Test. Hopefully with a F1RST
It was nice to see on the homeward leg a big difference in every aspect of marking junctions and generally their own individual riding
WELL DONE to John McManus, Lavinia Osborn, Paul Basu and Martin Berry-(Roy Springall-Cancelled)
Best of luck with your training

Within the Observer Corps here at ESAM, we recognise that not everyone – particularly Associates – feel comfortable with group rides and are therefore missing out on a significant aspect of the Social side of the club. To help with this, we have introduced the Associates Only Ride.
